About

High Tails opened on Valentines Day 2004. Founders Beth Byerly and Laurie Raymond had a vision of providing the highest quality products and day care, training and grooming services to the dogs and cats of the Roaring Fork Valley. Many changes have occurred over these 16 years. Beth's death in 2010 was a devastating blow. Yet she, who so loved all animals, has inspired us to live up to her dreams for High Tails. We have increased professional grooming and training offerings, as well as nutrition and behavior coaching, thereby becoming the extended family for a whole generation of Valley pets.
The most drastic changes have affected the retailing of products. Online sales have become so ubiquitous that a small store like us simply can't compete in the current environment, so we have eliminated most of the dry goods retail: beds, apparel, collars, leads and other equipment readily available online. But be assured we take our obligations to you, our customers, very seriously.

High Tails is now (January 2020) in the process of transitioning from a corporation to a worker-owned pet services cooperative! Cooperatives are owned and governed by their workers. Profits are distributed among the worker owners, enabling them to make decisions that benefit them and their customers, and especially the animals they care for. The people who serve you and your pets are your neighbors and friends.
